Blessings to y´all
It´s been a month already since we got back from Haiti. I think we are still processing what happened to us there. God performed so many things through us that we clearly believe there was a purpose in our going to Haiti (not that we thought the other way). God is amazing.
However, living here is not the same as living in Haiti. We don´t wake up by the sound of a cow next to our windows; we don´t need to cook with charcoal and firewood (some don´t even have to cook anymore); we don´t need to walk to get water to fill up a 60 gallon tank; we don´t have to hand wash our clothes or scare away frogs or roaches from the bathroom so girls shower. Gratitude switches from being thankful for good sleep to being thankful because you were able to pay your internet bill. It´s hard to be thankful for beef when you just go to the supermarket and get it without having to wait until Monday. Being back to our “comfort Zone” will and is making us forget many things, but like I said earlier what God taught us, the things that really matter, are still there, and we hope that those teachings attach so tightly to our hearts and minds that we never stop applying these things.
We are working hard and God´s purpose seems clarer everyday. Workers are needed. Everyday we get a chance to lay down our lives for the cause of Jesus. Wether we are in Cativo or in Guachupita or in Batey Chiquito, we get the chance to re-tell the stories of God´s grace in our lives. We are spending at least four days a week working together doing finances or administration, uploading updates for people and planning.
This has been a blessing because we get a chance to work together and grow together.
In the mornings we are sitting on a table. Excel, laptop, phones, internet, website, facebook. In the afternoons we work in the most basic, low-complicated, person focused ministry. Mayi grabs a water bottle and a new testament to go to Batey Chiquito, Horlyn meets with some of his friends to hang out, Connie goes to Cativo to visit the believers. Patria and I go to Guachupita to disciple the church there. God has so transformed our lives in such a way that we
